Jacob's 1st birthday party

Jacob's 1st birthday party, originally uploaded by duckytran.

I can't believe it, but Jacob turned 1 on Jan. 9. He really completes our family and I cannot imagine our lives without him. He's been walking for a couple of months and can say a few words like, "Uh oh," "Hi" and "dad." Yes, he says "dad" before he says "mom" and I'm just fine with it. He gets so excited when he sees his dad and I think it's wonderful that the kids adore him.

Josh and Kiki still love to shower him with kisses all the time. It's so sweet to see his older siblings take care of him. Josh is the best big brother I can imagine for him. Josh says he can't resist Jacob's cuteness. Jacob is walking and running a lot now so he's really starting to test their patience with him. Jacob likes to climb on Josh and Kiki when they lay down. This is usually fun for them, but not so fun when they're sleeping.

He's still on the smaller side when it comes to his size. He's 17 pounds; he's gained only 1 pound in the past 3 months. That's better than Kiki, who was 16 pounds at 1 year. Josh was 20 pounds at 1 year. His pediatrician says that Duc and I aren't the tallest/largest people by nature so our children will be on the petite side. Jacob is developing well and looks healthy so his doc isn't too concerned.

I look forward to seeing him grow into his own person this coming year.
