Ever since Josh and Kiki saw a cartoon a couple of years ago in which the kids had a lemonade stand, they've been asking us to let them sell lemonade. Duc promised to build them a lemonade stand if they were serious about wanting to sell lemonade. They said they were so he built them a lemonade stand.
We originally planned to build this as a lemonade stand, but I suggested buying chalkboard paint so we can use it as a booth to sell whatever we wanted. Duc sprayed the front with chalkboard paint and the kids painted the booth with yellow paint leftover from our dining room. Josh, Kiki and their friends were more than happy to paint the stand.
Here's the stand after we finished it. Josh, Kiki and their friend Jade made some lemonade and stood out in the hot evening sun. We didn't know if anyone would come by.
Word got out that the long-awaited lemonade stand was operating and all the neighborhood kids showed up for some tarty goodness. By the end of the evening, Josh and Kiki had taken multiple "lunch breaks" and let the other kids take turns selling lemonade. It was a wonderful and memorable experience.
